REDcycle

The REDcycle soft plastics recycling option for Australia stopped in November 2022.

This means that soft plastic packaging that currently features the “Return to Store” REDcycle Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) logo cannot be returned to store. A Soft Plastics Taskforce has now been formed to explore solutions to reintroduce a return to store model in Australia.

What can I do with my soft plastic packaging in the interim?

Check if soft plastics recycling is available in your local area here: Australasian Recycling Label (arl.org.au)

If kerbside recycling is not currently available, you will need to dispose of your soft plastic packaging in the landfill bin. Please periodically check back in at arl.org.au as pilot kerbside recycling programs are rolled out across Australia.

What is Always Fresh doing about soft plastics?

Always Fresh has made a commitment to meet the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) targets by the end of 2025 including 0% single use plastic, 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable packaging and 50% recycled packaging.

We also remain committed to supporting the wider industry to find alternative solutions for soft plastic packaging. That’s why we are a Foundation Supporter of the National Plastics Recycling Scheme (National Plastics Recycling Scheme – Australian Food and Grocery Council (afgc.org.au), which is focused on finding a solution to kerbside soft plastic recycling in Australia. We’re also working with our packaging suppliers to find alternative sustainable solutions.
